Under a CSL2 notice — or one customer escalation away from a line stop?
Escalation Response — Controlled Shipping & Quality Wall
Escalation response is third-party containment that protects your customer the moment a quality escape threatens their line. It covers Controlled Shipping Level 1 and 2 (CSL1/CSL2), a quality wall or firewall, GP-12 early-production containment and 0-km sorting — independent screening with OEM-format reporting until verified exit criteria let you stand down controlled shipping.
Containment plan within 24 hours · mobilized worldwide · engagements scoped per project.
When you need this
- Your customer has issued a CSL1 or CSL2 (controlled shipping) notice.
- A defect has escaped to the customer line and a 24–48h containment plan is demanded.
- Repeat escapes have triggered a quality wall / firewall requirement.
- A new or redesigned part needs GP-12 early-production containment.
- Your internal team is stretched and cannot staff 100% screening on top of production.
How it works
- 1
Mobilize
A containment plan is produced within 24 hours of engagement and screeners are deployed — on-site at your plant, at the customer, or at a third location — anywhere in the world.
- 2
Define the criteria
Defect definitions, boundary samples and an inspection instruction are agreed with the customer so every part is judged against the same standard.
- 3
100% screen
Visual, dimensional and functional screening of suspect stock with clear OK / NOK segregation, quarantine of rejects and full traceability.
- 4
NOK flow & reporting
Rejects are routed to rework or scrap, daily ppm and quantities are reported in the customer’s format, and 8D root-cause work runs in parallel.
- 5
Facilitate exit
Exit-criteria evidence is assembled and presented so controlled shipping can be lifted — and the permanent corrective action is verified to keep it lifted.
Exit criteria
Competitors stop at the screening. We define — and prove — the criteria that end the engagement, so it has a defensible finish line.
- A defined number of consecutive clean shipments (typically agreed with the customer SQ team).
- A closed 8D with verified root cause and effective permanent corrective action.
- Updated control plan / PFMEA reflecting the corrective action.
- Customer SQ sign-off on the exit package and removal of the CSL status.
